Some students have asked for more direction with the mid-term written assignment. This is what I have told them: There six levels of understanding when writing regarding the articles. The higher the level you achieve the better it will be. The levels are: knowledge, understanding, application, analysis, synthesis, evaluation. These are listed from lowest level to highest level. If you can show me the levels up to application that would be successful. So show me you have knowledge of what was written, understanding of how it works, how it would be applied, you may choose to analyze the articles synthesize them into something you already know, or evaluate them. At the masters level we shoot for application. The APA style requires double spacing, and subject headings, as well as proper citation format.
